Mission Statement Institute of Social Safety Science (ISSS) was founded in December 1986 with a mission to contribute to improving the safety of society by taking a citizenfs perspective.
Safety is an essential component in the functioning of society and in our everyday lives. Explaining and solving the problems of safety requires breaking the traditional barriers between academic fields and easing the communication flow between them. It is necessary to encourage multidisciplinary linkages, between the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences. Accordingly, ISSS promotes collaboration between academic, professionals, engineers and public experts, and researches issues of safety associated with anthropogenic disasters, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. Furthermore, ISSS arranges technical conventions, international conferences and symposia for exchanging ideas and proposes concrete plans to solve the problems of safety for society.
ISSS serves people interested in the safety of society by providing them with opportunities for exchanging information and collaborating in joint projects. ISSS welcomes your entry as a member and as a participant in our activities.
